The building began life as a Victorian Power Station in 1896, and has retained many of its original features and brickwork. The spaces range from small studios to avernous chambers, all of which serve as a blank canvas for any kind of event.

At Shoreditch Electric Light Station the two main spaces are the Generating Chamber, which is 280sqm with a capacity of 300; and the Combustion Chamber which is 425sqm with a capacity of 450. The Courtyard leads straight into the Combustion Chamber and serves as a great out door event space. Further studios are available which are great for breakout spaces for larger events, or green rooms.

The spaces have been used for events as diverse as gala events, product launches, film and broadcast industry showcases, and catwalk shows.

Shoreditch Electric Light Station is a venue committed to decreasing it’s carbon foot print. It is powered by solar panels and at points has generated more energy than it has needed, which is quite poignant considering it’s first purpose was to generate electricity.

The building is home to the National Centre for Circus Arts - a registered charity dedicated to providing circus arts education and circus development. All revenue from commercial venue hire goes directly towards the running of the centre. The venue team can also connect you with their directory of homegrown professional artists, who can offer mesmerising performances for your event.
